Phosphorensic®, new and exclusive phosphorescent reagent for developing latent prints

Forensic DNA developed a novel reagent for developing Latent, unique in its kind, first offered in the forensic market: PHOSPHORENSIC®.

Powders phosphorescent particles have an additional feature that outstrip the Traditional fluorescent powders in the physical development of latent prints.

Fluorescence is a characteristic having certain objects emit luminescence in the visible spectrum being irradiated with light (we recommend visiting the section Toggle navigation). Time said fluorescence emission is limited to the exposure time of irradiation, that is to say, the light emitted at the ends off the flashlight (as usual, ultraviolet).

For substances with phosphorescent properties, the luminescence emitted is persistent over time, because the UV light is absorbed and emitted stored for longer time span.
To reveal latent fingerprints on surfaces or complex multicolored, developers are traditionally used in fluorescent powder, since with them it is possible said annular surface (turning off the lights) and disclose only UV light dust adhering to the trace in question.

The drawback of this type is disclosed a camera to be used while performing UV illumination, since after this, fluorescent footprint immediately disappears. Additionally, the surface can reflect or react to the lighting own UV, reducing contrast to obtain.

These drawbacks can be solved with the new phosphorescent powders DNA Forensics PHOSPHORENSIC®, which will allow, once revealed and illuminated the suspected surface, photographing footprint simplest way, provide more time to the light emitting, and without using special filters.

About this issue, an article has been published in the No. 5 Vol. 16 from Journal of Forensic Sciences & Criminal Investigation (JFSCI) in which we carry out an experiment to reveal latent prints with photoluminescent reagents on complex surfaces. in the results, the effectiveness of PHOSPHORENSIC is evident on those surfaces that are complex and at the same time reactive to ultraviolet light, avoiding the interferences that could be generated.Read and download article.
